Mission, TX- Boys & Girls Club of Mission Director Jose “JJ” Guerrero hopes to expand the number of programs available for youths at the club. Guerrero, 44, began on Oct. 31 as the new executive director of the club.

“I am very excited to continue building on the foundation that so many great leaders have laid before me. I am grateful to be part of such a great city that cares about its future, the children,” he said.

Guerrero comes to Mission with many years of experience in administration. He previously served with the Evangelical Church where he started a foundation called Ciudad de Refugio in Cochabamba, Bolivia to help orphans, the homeless, and battered women and children.

“He’s a great fit for the city and we are excited to have him at the helm,” Mayor Dr. Armando O’Caña said. “The Bannworth Gym expansion is now complete and he is leading the charge to get registration going there and making it our second full-service facility. I know he will continue to do good things for the children and families in Mission.”

The new leader of the Mission club said he is excited to work in his hometown.

“The Boys and Girls Club of Mission is a staple in this community. So many people in this town are products of our organization,” said Guerrero. “The club has great support from the community and board members. When the opportunity arose, I was eager to accept the position and I know great things are coming.”

Guerrero said one of his main goals will be program development.
