WESLACO, TX (September 18, 2013)- Weslaco will be home to a brand new Applebee’s restaurant, opening on the southwest corner of Westgate and Expressway 83 in late 2013.  The Weslaco Chamber of Commerce and Restaurant Development and Building Company Building421, Inc. will be hosting a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, September 24 at 10 am.  The public is invited to attend.

Weslaco will be the second city in the United States to have the latest and greatest Applebee’s prototype design featuring bold colors, a sleek stone face and more modern aesthetic. There will be significant upgrades to the restaurant interior as well, including the installation of 14 flat-screen televisions, a must for the football-loving South Texas city.

“The new prototype brings together elements of the traditional Applebee’s design while reinventing the model for a more fresh and contemporary feel. We are closely working with both RMH and Applebee’s International to ensure the Weslaco location is a standout for the national dining chain,” said Kevin Morris, Director of Development for Building421, Inc.

Despite the changes to its look, the Weslaco Applebee’s will feature the traditional core values of the casual dining brand with a focus on providing patrons a family-friendly environment, moderately priced, high-quality food and comfortable atmosphere to enjoy a meal out.

Located only minutes from Bobby Lackey Stadium, home of the Weslaco Panthers and Wildcats, the restaurant slated to open in late December 2013, will reflect the local neighborhood with décor and memorabilia highlighting the town’s landmarks, events and athletic teams.
