MPLKids Book Bundles is a new curbside delivery service for children ages from birth to 10 years old. Parents and caregivers can now choose a curated book pack from a variety of themes based on their child’s age. The new service will begin on Monday, August 3, and will be available during the hours of Curbside Pick-Up at the McAllen Public Library, located at 4001 N. 23rd Street.
“MPLKids Book Bundles is a new and innovative way to provide customized services to our younger readers,” said Kristina Garcia, Children’s Services Supervisor. “Parents right now are looking for ways to keep their children engaged. This service will help to ease that burden while encouraging reading and family interactivity.”
For younger children, McAllen Public Library staff will pack four to six storybooks and suggested activities with themes such as farm animals, alphabet, shapes, numbers, dinosaurs, fairy tales, and nursery rhymes. Book bundles can be customized for older children to reflect their interests, reading level, and AR Level. Chapter books, non-fiction titles, and worksheets related to the child’s interests will be part of each book bundle for older children.
To request an MPLKids Book Bundle, go to the McAllen Public Library website at www.mcallenlibrary.net and click on MPLKids Book Bundles. Patrons with a library card in good standing can fill out a customized request form. An MPL Children Service’s team member will contact patrons when it is ready for contactless curbside pick-up.
Curbside Pick-Up hours of operation are:
Monday – Thursday: 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Friday & Saturday: 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sundays: 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
