MISSION, Texas – Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) proudly celebrated the accomplishments of the Class of 2026 during its Spring Commencement ceremonies held Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas.
Graduates from Mission CISD’s three high schools crossed the stage surrounded by the cheers of family, friends, educators, and community members, marking a milestone that reflects years of hard work, determination, and perseverance.
The ceremonies recognized not only academic achievement but also the personal growth, resilience, and leadership demonstrated by the graduating class throughout their educational journey.
During the ceremonies, Mission CISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Cris King encouraged graduates to embrace the opportunities ahead as they begin the next phase of their lives.
“One of the reasons today is so special is because you are standing at the beginning of a brand-new chapter. This is your future unfolding,” said King. “Life is about moving forward with courage.”

As graduates reflected on how far they have come and looked ahead to what comes next, speakers throughout the ceremonies reminded them of the people and experiences that helped shape their journey.
Veterans Memorial High School Principal Raul Luna encouraged graduates to remain grounded as they move forward into the next chapter of their lives.
“As you step into your next chapter, carry with you the support of the family members, educators, and mentors who stood beside you along the way,” said Luna. “Honor their sacrifices, value their guidance, and never forget the people who helped shape the person you are today. Carry with you the pride of this community and the lessons you’ve learned here.”

Mission High School Salutatorian Savanna Jo Avila reflected on the collective journey of the graduating class and expressed gratitude to those who helped make their success possible.
“To every teacher, counselor, staff member, friend, and family member who supported us along the way, thank you,” said Avila. “You helped shape our experiences in ways we may not have fully understood at the time but will always appreciate as we look back on this moment and move forward into the future.”
EXCELLENCE IN ACADEMICS, ARTS, AND ATHLETICS
Members of the Class of 2026 distinguished themselves through academic achievement, leadership, service, and involvement in extracurricular activities. Many graduates participated in dual enrollment programs, earning college credits while completing their high school education, and positioning themselves for future success.
Beyond the classroom, students excelled in fine arts, athletics, career and technical education programs, and a variety of student organizations, showcasing their talents and commitment to excellence across multiple disciplines.
Mission Collegiate High School Valedictorian Nicholas Ochoa shared a message about the importance of relationships and community as graduates pursue different paths after high school.
“As we graduate, our futures may lead us in different directions. Some of us will continue our journeys together, while others will find themselves in unfamiliar places surrounded by new faces,” said Ochoa. “Wherever life takes you, seek out meaningful connections. Build new friendships, stay close to family, and surround yourself with people who encourage and inspire you.”
As tassels were turned and caps filled the air, the Class of 2026 officially closed one chapter and began another. Armed with knowledge, experiences, and memories forged during their time at Mission CISD, graduates now step confidently into a future filled with opportunity and promise.
Mission CISD congratulates the Class of 2026 and wishes its graduates continued success as they pursue their dreams and make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
