Tomorrow, the City of McAllen’s 3-1-1 Customer Service Call Center will be launching a new mobile app that will make it easier to submit requests and will also help provide better feedback to users. The app will launch on July 15 with Apple users simply receiving a notification to update the app, while Android users will need to download the new app manually.
“McAllen’s 3-1-1 is a true resource, which we use to not only hear directly from our community, but we can also provide them up-to-date information that responds to their concerns,” said McAllen Mayor Jim Darling. “Whether you call directly or use the app, it is on effective tool for our community.
The new app will have updated features including:
- Better interface with the internal work order system used by multiple departments including Public Works, Health & Code Enforcement and Building Inspections.
- The new app is much more flexible and user friendly for staff, as well as the public. There is even a field worker version that will be accessible by staff in the field to update requests as needed, without the need for them to come into the office.
- In-app live streaming of McAllen Cable Network 1300. It will live stream all content including McAllen City Commission meetings and other scheduled programming.
- A new interface that allows for more rapid updates and customization by City staff to better meet citizen needs.
The new app icon is the City of McAllen seal and will still go by the name McAllen 3-1-1.
