McALLEN, Texas – The City of McAllen recently hosted its third business and trade delegation from Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, reinforcing the expanding relationship between the two cities and creating additional pathways for international commerce, investment, and economic collaboration.
The delegation brought together entrepreneurs, business executives, and public officials seeking a closer look at McAllen’s competitive advantages, including its strategic geographic position, business-friendly climate, logistics network, and seamless connectivity to U.S. markets.

The ongoing partnership between McAllen and Tampico demonstrates the city’s commitment to cultivating strong international relationships that encourage economic progress and mutually beneficial opportunities on both sides of the border.
By engaging both business professionals and government leaders, McAllen continues to position itself as a reliable entry point for companies seeking to establish a presence in the United States. The city works closely with businesses by offering strategic support, guidance on regulations and market expectations, and access to resources that facilitate successful market entry and expansion.

“To our Tampico friends, thank you for traveling more than 300 miles to be here today and learn about McAllen’s business opportunities,” said Mayor Javier Villalobos. “We appreciate the trust and interest in our city. McAllen stands ready to help support your business crossover and long-term success in our region.”
The two-day trade mission included a business seminar to help companies accelerate their international growth plans.
Eight regional specialists in trade compliance, banking, legal affairs, entrepreneurship, and economic development provided participants with practical knowledge and strategies to navigate the U.S. business landscape more effectively, helping them maximize investments while reducing time and operational challenges.

The success and continued momentum of this third trade mission build upon the achievements of the previous two delegations, further reinforcing McAllen’s standing as a preferred destination for international trade and cross-border economic activity.
“Tampico’s leadership has been remarkable in helping us advance economic diplomacy initiatives like this trade mission,” said McAllen City Manager Isaac J. Tawil. “Our objective remains clear: Showcase McAllen as the best city in the Rio Grande Valley to do business and invest.”
“The City of McAllen’s International Relations Department has built strong and lasting ties with Tampico’s business community and leadership,” said Director of International Relations Daniella Plata. “We remain committed to strengthening international partnerships and promoting McAllen as a premier destination for business expansion, trade, and economic opportunity throughout South Texas.”
