WHY: The City of McAllen is celebrating Aeromar Airlines’ 5th Anniversary at McAllen International Airport. Aeromar provides service to Mexico City with a non-stop flight six times a week.

Aeromar’s route from McAllen, TX to Mexico City was launched in March 2013.  Since its inception, passenger boardings have grown by 54%, with the highest boardings reported in 2017 with 16,199 total passengers.   City leaders credit the great working relationship with the airline for its success.

“We’re excited about celebrating our partnership with Aeromar Airlines for the past five years.  Aeromar provides the only non-stop air service to a destination in Mexico from the Rio Grande Valley.  We are glad that they have selected McAllen International Airport as their partner to offer this important service,” said Mayor Jim Darling. “When you offer value and easy connectivity to a destination like Mexico City, it’s a win-win for everyone.”

Aeromar has been successful with connecting families and the business and world traveler looking for a cultural and historic destination to and from the United States to Mexico.

“We attribute the last five years of success to a strong working relationship between Aeromar and the City of McAllen,” said City Manager Roel “Roy” Rodriguez, P.E.  “We continue to affirm our commitment to this partnership and work alongside the airline to continue to look for opportunities to serve our community.”

McAllen International Airport provides diverse service for all Rio Grande Valley travelers with daily service via United Airlines, American Airlines, Allegiant Air and Aeromar Airlines.
