Texas Border Business
Mike Blum partner and managing broker at NAI Rio Grande Valley is a data junkie. He is always alert on what the Texas Comptroller is reporting. He told Texas Border Business that the May 2020 Sales Tax report has been published.
Here is the report showing the top 20 cities in Texas, sorted by % change for the same period in 2019. That data is reporting on sales that occurred in March.
He also pointed out that it was important to note that while McAllen’s number of the month is nearly 8% less than May 2019, the Year To Date number, remains positive (1.29%). “That will likely change in the June report which will reflect the impact of COVID19 on retail sales across the state.” He said, “Now that the opening of La Plaza and other retail shops has begun, the next few months will be hopefully lessen the negative impacts.”
