(Edinburg, Texas) – Boys & Girls Clubs of Edinburg RGV has selected Marissa Castañeda to serve as honorary chair for this year’s annual “Steak” In Your Community event.
Marissa Castañeda joined Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in 2003. She has served on the DHR Senior Management team since 2005, and was named the Chief Operations Officer in 2007. She was appointed Senior Executive Vice President in 2014 and named Chief Business Development Officer in 2017. Marissa oversees the day-to-day operations of the hospital to ensure that the highest degree of medical care is provided.
She is accountable for a variety of hospital departments, including radiology, physician relations and outreach, marketing, creative services, physician recruitment, business development, conference center, patient experience, employee engagement, medical staff, community relations and wellness, laboratory services, and continuing medical education.
She is a native of Edinburg and attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. She and her husband, Oscar, reside in Edinburg with their daughter Olivia and are members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The community is very important to Marissa and as such, she actively participates in numerous civic and volunteer activities.
She served on the Board of Directors for the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce; she volunteers for Valley Alliance of Mentors for Opportunities (VAMOS), the Advocacy Alliance Center of Texas (AACT), is a member of the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development Association, and serves on the steering boards for the HOPE Family Health Center, Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan Del Valle Gala Committee, the Renaissance Cancer Foundation and Discovery School.
Marissa was awarded a medal of honor from the March of Dimes for serving as Chairwoman for leading their fundraising efforts in South Texas. She is a graduate of Leadership Edinburg’s Class XXIII.
“Steak” In Your Community is held annually, with the goal of raising funds to support youth development programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs and the Youth-of-the-Year scholarship program. The event includes a fast-paced auction, live music from the RiverRock Band, good food by Palacios Endowment, and great company.
“The funds raised by the “Steak” In Your Community event will make a huge impact on the lives of our community youth, said Castañeda. “I understand the importance of success for children who face challenges. Our community children and adolescents deserve the opportunities that Boys & Girls Clubs in Edinburg provides. I believe in service before self and this year with the help of our guest of honor Club alumni, television actor and host Mario Lopez we hope to break our fundraising goal of $150,000.00.”
