McALLEN, Texas – The City of McAllen hosted the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) Disaster Management for Public Services and Public Works course, at the Emergency Operations Center, brought together public works professionals, emergency management personnel, first responders, and city staff.

Participants engaged in hands-on discussions and exercises designed to enhance decision-making and operational readiness while reinforcing best practices in disaster preparedness and recovery. The two-day program focused on strengthening preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities for incidents affecting critical infrastructure. Instruction covered hazard assessment, resource management, emergency planning, federal guidance, and mitigation strategies to support effective disaster operations.
