During the Good Day Luncheon, local business owner, Rick Guerra surprised the McAllen Crime Stoppers Board with a $1,100 donation. Rick Guerra’s name had been drawn from the jackpot prize box at the luncheon and decided to donate his winnings to the McAllen Crime Stoppers organization. “I truly believe in the McAllen Crime Stoppers Program, they are an asset to our community. This is my way of giving back to our community and supporting those that contribute to the safety of our community,” stated Rick Guerra.
McAllen Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to assisting in the fight against crime. The program is instrumental in providing information to the McAllen Police Department. A 24-hour hotline allows Crime Stoppers to receive anonymous information and pay rewards up to $1,000 for information leading to arrest and/or convictions. The McAllen Crime Stoppers number is 956-687-TIPS. According to the McAllen Police Department, at the end of 2017, McAllen recorded its lowest crime in 33 years. The goal of McAllen Crime Stoppers is to make the community safer for all its residents and visitors, and Guerra is helping with that mission.
