Juneteenth Jubilee African (Motherland) Food Cook-off Competition

EDINBURG, Texas – On Saturday, June 19th, 2021 the City of Edinburg would like to invite participants and attendees to an African (Motherland) Food Cook-off Competition that is part of the greater Juneteenth Jubilee Celebration! 

For attendees, this event is scheduled to occur from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the City of Edinburg Courtyard, located at 415 W. University Dr.

For those hoping to participate in the cook-off, you must highlight a black culture, including but not limited to Nigerian, Ghanaian, Gambian and Caribbean. Some of the expectations for participants include: providing free taste samples for an anticipated 300 guests and having sample sizes be of 2 oz soufflé cups or comparable. Provided are a tent, tablecloth, two chairs and a source for electrical power.

Those looking to participate in the cook-off will need to register by June 15th, 2021. Participants will be obligated to get a no-cost temporary food establishment permit. 

Winners will receive a trophy, a cooler filled with H-E-B goodies and merchandise! And of course bragging rights of winning the 2021 African Food Cook-off Competition!
