Edinburg, Texas – Jaime E. Tijerina was sworn into office by U. S. Federal Judge Ricardo H. Hinojosa on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, commencing his tenure as Judge of the 92nd State District Court of Texas. The ceremony took place at 1:30 pm at the Hidalgo County Courthouse in Edinburg.

Tijerina was appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to fill a vacancy in the office when former Judge Ricardo Rodriguez announced his resignation in August; the term of the appointment is until the end of 2014. Tijerina, an attorney and businessman, also serves as Lieutenant Colonel, Judge

Advocate Corps, in the United States Army Reserves. Tijerina previously served in an official public capacity as County Attorney for Kenedy County, a position to which he was elected in 2000.

Tijerina is a graduate from McAllen High School, received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas – Pan American, and his juris doctor degree from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University.
