EDINBURG – Commissioners Court passed a resolution in recognition of the IDEA Edinburg Eagles Boys’ Cross Country team for winning the Texas Charter School Academic & Athletic League State Championship in Georgetown.
All team members were present to accept the resolution sponsored by Precinct 4 Commissioner Ellie Torres.
Led to success by their coaches Tomas Martinez and Antonio De La Rosa, the team is comprised of Jose Suarez, Hugo Chavarria, Fabian Garcia, Joel Solis, Isai Garcia, Uziel Vazquez, and Javier Peña. The team competed locally, winning two out of eight meets and advanced to the state level where they were awarded the 2019 TCSAAL State Championship.
“The Eagles have truly shown their excellence and dedication to the sport of Cross Country,” said Martinez. “It’s been a pleasure seeing these young men grow up and become leaders and dedicated athletes.”
