Edinburg – The Hidalgo County Head Start Program is partnering with Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District to bring early childhood education to all eligible pre-K children within the school district. This collaborative effort will help more children ages 3-5 receive the school readiness they need to succeed in elementary school.

ECISD teachers will participate in planning and implementing classroom instruction, engage with parents, and perform child assessments and evaluations. As part of the partnership, ECISD teachers will also join Head Start teachers, assistant teachers, staff and parents for in-service training at all seven centers within Edinburg. Together they will share resources to educate nearly 620 Head Start children.

Currently, Head Start has partnerships with seven other Hidalgo County school districts to provide these much needed services to their students, they include Edcouch-Elsa ISD, La Joya ISD, PSJA ISD, Weslaco ISD, and most recently they added Edinburg CISD, Monte Alto ISD, and Mercedes ISD. TBB
