Visit McAllen, a department of the McAllen Chamber of Commerce, announces the Asociacion Nacional de Grupos Folkloricos will host its 50th Congreso Nacional in McAllen. The weeklong educational convention is scheduled for July 8-16, 2023, and features over 500 dancers, workshops, networking events and a final recital.

The Asociación Nacional de Grupos Folklóricos (ANGF) was formed as a united international association to serve as a voice for the promotion and preservation of Mexican folklore traditions.

ANGF aims to actively pursue the research, education, and artistic representation of the rich dance, music, and folk-art traditions of Mexico while promoting and generating a greater understanding of interrelated folk cultural traditions through its organization.

This will be McAllen’s fourth time hosting the ANGF Congreso Nacional which was previously in McAllen in 2017 and 2019.  In 2023, Visit McAllen expects hundreds of attendees for the event, generating 600 hotel room nights and approximately $315,000 in economic impact.
