MCALLEN, TX – South Texas Vocational Institute (STVT) has moved its Brownsville, McAllen and Weslaco campuses into new and improved facilities, providing students an upgraded learning experience as they train for their future careers. A special groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the upgraded facilities was held on November 17, 2020 at each campus.
“We are thrilled to work alongside such a committed organization that shares our mission to serve South Texas communities,” said Esmeralda Villarreal, President and CEO of the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce. “The Brownsville Chamber is proud to have various members who are working to close the skills gap by driving workforce development programs that will create a positive change for all who live and work in our community. We appreciate STVT’s leadership and are excited for the year ahead.”
The campuses relocated at the end of August in preparation for the start of upcoming fall programs. More accessible locations, modern fixtures and construction, larger classrooms and clinical labs plus updated amenities like faculty lounges and expanded student break areas are among the many upgrades. In addition, all campuses have access to public transportation.

The new construction creates larger classrooms with overall better aesthetics and incorporates a dental assistant lab that better reflects what a dentist office might look like.
The new facilities will provide students with a richer clinical experience and thanks to numerous upgrades, the school is in alignment with industry trends that meet STVT’s employer partners’ expectations for clinical settings.

Similar to Brownsville, the new McAllen campus provides high visibility near La Plaza mall, right off the NorthExpressway. Weslaco Campus:
New Address: 1600 North Westgate Drive, Suite 400, Weslaco, TX 78599

The improved space features a large faculty room, expanded classrooms and a new dental assistant lab that mirrors a real life dental office.
“The investment we’re making in the STVT new, improved facilities, is an investment in the future of the people who call this community home,” says Priscilla Guajardo, Director of Education for the Brownsville STVT campus. “At STVT, we help students transform their lives with education and training. We tell students, make today the first day of the rest of your life. The environment the upgraded facilities will create reflected the pride our graduates have as they begin new careers.”
The new and improved Weslaco campus offers students the opportunity to learn hands-on from industry-experienced instructors in settings designed to simulate real-world work environments.
