McALLEN – No one gets behind the wheel intending to cause harm, but last year 1,254 people died on Texas roads because of impaired driving. That’s three Texans killed each day because of someone’s poor—and preventable—decision to ignore risk.
To remind drivers of the harrowing cost of driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will travel the state with a former beverage delivery truck. The truck has been repurposed to act as an attention-grabbing reminder to always drive sober and drive like a Texan: kind, courteous and safe.

Drive Sober. No Regrets. is an important part of TxDOT’s Drive like a Texan: Kind. Courteous. Safe. initiative. Drive like a Texan is about embracing the pride, camaraderie and responsibility of being a Texan on the road. By making thoughtful choices, we can all help keep each other safe.
