EL PASO, Texas — The City of El Paso is proud to announce that the El Paso Public Libraries has received the 2023 Achievement of Library Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association (TMLDA), an affiliate of the Texas Municipal League.
“This esteemed recognition reflects the El Paso Public Libraries’ unwavering commitment to advancing library services and promoting community engagement,” said El Paso Public Libraries Director Norma Martinez. “This accolade not only highlights the library’s dedication to providing access to knowledge but also acknowledges its innovative initiatives, community outreach programs, and commitment to enhancing the overall library experience for our patrons.”
Of the 545 public libraries in the state of Texas, only 84 received this award in 2023.
To successfully receive the Achievement of Library Excellence Award, a library must exhibit excellence by providing services to underserved and special populations; marketing in innovative ways; pursuing collaborative efforts; continually enhancing its services; supporting literacy, digital inclusion, and workforce development; providing cultural, topical, and educational programming; and comprehensively training its staff.
The award recognizes the library’s continued dedication to providing outstanding recreational, cultural, and educational opportunities for our community. The El Paso Public Libraries is no stranger to the top award, the library received the Achievement of Excellence Award in 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.
