EDINBURG, Texas – The City of Edinburg invites the community to join in the annual Memorial Day Commemorative Ceremony, scheduled to take place at the Edinburg Municipal Auditorium on Friday, May 24th at 10 a.m.
An invitation is extended to the families of fallen heroes from the City of Edinburg who made the ultimate sacrifice in combat. As the community gathers to honor their memory, the City humbly requests photographs specifically from the service members who served in WWI, WWII, and the Korean War to be included in a Memorial Wall Display, ensuring their courage and sacrifice are forever remembered.
Edinburg takes great pride in being recognized as a Hometown of Heroes, boasting 90 Fallen Heroes who valiantly served from WWI to today. Among them stand two Congressional Medal of Honor recipients, Sgt. Alfredo “Freddy” Gonzalez, PVT Pedro Cano, and Gold Medal recipient Petty Officer Jose Antonio Saenz.Ā
For families whose loved ones are among the fallen heroes, please bring a copy of their photograph along with details of their service by May 17th to be included in the display. Together, let us honor and remember the courage, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of our cherished heroes.
