EDINBURG, Texas – The Texas Police Chiefs Association (TPCA) has appointed Edinburg Police Chief Jaime Ayala as the new Regional Director for Region 12, which includes the majority of the Rio Grande Valley. The appointment was made by TPCA President Will Johnson and reflects the organization’s continued commitment to experienced and community-driven leadership.

Chief Ayala brings more than 35 years of distinguished law enforcement experience to the role. A deep commitment to public safety, innovative policing strategies, and community engagement has marked his career. Prior to this appointment, Chief Ayala served as the Affiliate Representative for the South Texas Police Chiefs Association, where he worked closely with departments across the region to promote best practices in law enforcement.

As Regional Director, Chief Ayala will play a key role in strengthening communication and collaboration among police departments in Region 12, advocating for officer development, and advancing the TPCA’s mission to enhance professionalism and leadership across Texas law enforcement.
