Edinburg PD to Host Teen Police Academy, Weeks of June 8th and June 15th

Edinburg, TX—The Edinburg Police Department is set to launch the ‘Edinburg Teen Police Academy,’ an initiative aimed at facilitating a positive relationship with city youth as they foster an interest in a career in law enforcement. 

The week-long program will allow participants to learn more about core police functions, such as patrol, special operations, and crime scene investigation, through hands-on activities at the CPL Derek Hernandez Police Training Facility, located at 1309 N. Doolittle Road. 

The academy is free of charge and is open to City of Edinburg high school students (public, private, or homeschooled) who are between the ages of 14-17 years old. Edinburg PD will host two sessions for the Teen Police Academy. The schedule is as follows:

  • Session 1: June 8 through June 12, 2026, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. 
  • Session 2: June 15 through the 19, 2026, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

Participants are expected to attend all classes.
