EDINBURG – The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District Finance Department recently earned the nationally acclaimed Financial Reporting Achievement Award for the third consecutive year.
“We are very proud of the hard-working staff members in the Finance Department for achieving this prestigious award,” said ECISD Superintendent Dr. René Gutiérrez. “Once again, we are demonstrating to our school community that we maintain financial responsibility, financial transparency and take care of our taxpayers’ dollars.”
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Finance Department for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the 2016-2017 fiscal year.
According to GFOA, the report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
