Edinburg – On Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 11:30 am-1:00 pm, the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce (ECOC) Public Affairs Committee, headed by Veronica Gonzales (Edinburg Chamber Board Member – Vice Chair) and Letty Gonzalez (ECOC- President) will present a Public Affairs Luncheon featuring UTRGV School of Medicine Dean Dr. John Krouse.
The Public Affairs Luncheons are an initiative introduced in 2006, and since then have covered popular topics with speakers that cover important community and legislative issues. The vision is to inform, involve and educate chamber investors and civic leaders. The event also allows business professionals to meet, network and create opportunities for the companies they represent.
Cost to attend the luncheon is $25 per person or $250 for a table of 8, and includes a hot lunch, beverage and dessert. The luncheon will take place at Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance located at 118 Paseo Del Prado in Edinburg.
Dr. John H. Krouse is Dean of the School of Medicine and Vice President of Health Affairs for the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, Texas. Prior to his current position he served as Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, President of Temple University Physicians, and Professor and Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Krouse’s list of publications includes over 175 articles and book chapters as well as 5 textbooks. He has presented numerous papers at national and international meetings on topics ranging from chronic sinusitis and allergic rhinitis to bioethics, medical publishing, and health finance and administration.
Dr. Krouse is Editor-in-Chief of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, the official journal of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS), and its sister open access journal, OTO-Open. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the AAO-HNS Foundation.
Dr. Krouse graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh PA, and received his PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Rochester, NY, and his MD from Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA. He received an MBA from the Fox School of Business at Temple University in 2014. Dr. Krouse completed residency training in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary/Harvard Medical School, Boston MA. He is board certified in otolaryngology
