The Natatorium is a big idea that benefits Pharr and the region. The beauty of it is that this project is enhanced by the partnership of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and the Phar-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District, an educational system that works with 32,000 children. This is a great way of doing things. There is more inside about Mayor Hernandez and this project.

Wilson Construction was awarded a contract from General Services Administration (GSA) for the construction for Phase I of the Donna-Rio Bravo Land Port of Entry (LPOE). It will be the third international crossing in Hidalgo County to cater to commercial traffic.
Carlos Yerena, Donna City Manager stated, “Inter-agency coordination and with a pivotal trip to Mexico City by Congressman Filemon Vela, we finally secured the required documentation from Mexico for GSA to execute the license. I’m positive that without the Congressman’s help, the project would still be on hold.”
Congressman Vela said, “Allowing commercial traffic on the Donna-Rio Bravo Bridge is critical for economic development in the region, especially for the City of Donna… I look forward to the day soon that we see the first commercial truck cross over.”
