Edinburg, TX— The City of Edinburg Utilities Department is advising residents and businesses, between El Cibolo Rd. and 0.5 miles North of El Rucio Rd. to begin boiling water as a precautionary measure until further notice.

This advisory follows a water line break caused by a contractor working in the area who struck a main water line. As a result, water service was temporarily shut down in the affected area to allow City crews to safely conduct necessary repairs.

Out of an abundance of caution, and to ensure water quality remains safe for all customers following the line break, residents and businesses in the affected area are encouraged to follow standard boil water safety procedures until further notice.

  1. Boil water before use — Bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least two minutes before drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth.
  2. Cool before use — Allow boiled water to cool prior to consumption or household use.
  3. Use bottled water if needed — Bottled water is recommended for those unable to boil water.

The City of Edinburg appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during this time.
