Cameron County Commissioners’ Court To Provide Premium Pay To All County Employees Under The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) 2021

In support of urgent COVID-19 response efforts and the critical continuity of operations provided by all Cameron County, the Cameron County Commissioners’ Court designated all employees as essential critical infrastructure employees as allowed by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Furthermore, the Court approved the allocation of premium pay fiscal recovery funds to all full time-employees. The County Commissioners’ Court declared county employees, including those grant-funded, essential workers as eligible recipients of the American Rescue Plan Act funds to respond to the continued risk of exposure, illness and death involved in providing continuity of operations.

Following the guidelines provided by the U.S. Department of Treasury to ensure the provisions are implemented in a manner that compensates essential employees, the allocated premium pay fiscal recovery funds prioritize compensation of those employees of lower income.

Premium pay under the American Rescue Plan Act funds will be allocated accordingly:

Salary Range Earnings and ARPA Premium Pay          

            Up to $40,000:                         $3,500

            40,001 through $59,999:           $3,000

            $60,000 and above:                   $2,500
