AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott announced that his Public Safety Office (PSO) will award an additional $38.4 million for law enforcement, jail operations, and court administration activities in direct support of Operation Lone Star (OLS). The Governor's PSO has awarded $74.8 million in OLS funds to cities and counties in proximity to the Texas-Mexico border since the operation was launched in March 2021. 

Today, the City of Edinburg has officially sworn in Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr., Councilmember Dan Diaz and Councilmember Jason De Leon. The new leadership will take effect immediately.

As part of the National Day of Human Trafficking Awareness, on January 3rd, 2022, Empowering Communities is hosting a Silent Walk for Freedom in a show of solidarity with human trafficking victims and survivors.

I love McAllen was able to join with Andrew Jackson Elementary and 7 sponsors adopted 11 families for the holidays. All families received gifts for all the children in the family and also each family received a complete holiday dinner.
