8 McAllen ISD students selected for All-State Choir

Eight high school students from McAllen ISD have been selected for All-State recognition in Choir, marking the 41st straight year McAllen ISD students have earned All-State honors in music. 

Following Area auditions for the Texas Music Educators Association, students from McAllen Rowe, McAllen High, and McAllen Memorial High earned a place on the TMEA All-State Choir.

These include James Richardson of Rowe High (Bass 1, First Chair), Aleena Flores of Rowe High (Alto 1), Emily Gonzalez of Rowe High (Soprano 2), Dylan Moreno of Rowe High (Tenor 1), Isaac Zamorano of McAllen High (Tenor 1, First Chair), Heather Gager of McAllen High (Soprano 1), Tyler Warwas of McAllen High (Tenor 2), and Audra Wright of Memorial High (Soprano 1).

These eight outstanding musicians will perform with the TMEA All-State Choirs during the Texas Music Educators Association Convention Feb. 12-15 in San Antonio. 

“Great job by our outstanding McAllen ISD Choir Staff,” McAllen ISD Fine Arts Director Jim Egger said. “Congratulations to these very talented McAllen ISD high school choir students.”

McAllen ISD students have earned TMEA All-State recognition in music every year since 1980.
