The Zonta Club of West Hidalgo County is pleased to invite the community to join in honoring Chris Ardis, Sally Fraustro Guerra and Annie Holand Miller at the 2018 Shining Stars of Hidalgo County Dinner. The annual event will be held Tuesday, April 24th, 6:30 p.m. at McAllen Country Club.

Chris Ardis is being honored for her service to Education and Youth. Her junior year of high school, during a Catholic mass, Chris saw a sign language interpreter using her hands to translate the spoken word into sign language for a little girl who was Deaf. Mesmerized by the beauty of sign language, Chris decided that evening she would become a teacher of the Deaf. In 1983 Chris began her teaching career with McAllen ISD. After 29 years of teaching, Chris decided to retire.

While she didn’t miss the paperwork and the increasing number of meetings required of teachers, Chris dearly missed working with students, so she jumped at the chance to work with students at
