DENVER – The Western Athletic Conference announced on Thursday that The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women’s golf team was picked to finish sixth in the WAC Women’s Golf Coaches Poll.
UTRGV received 39 points as they were picked to finish ahead of Lamar, Stephen F. Austin, and Chicago State. Sam Houston was selected as the favorite to win the WAC Championship receiving seven first place votes for a total of 83 points.
Grand Canyon received three first place votes as they were picked to finish second with 80 points. New Mexico State was picked to finish third while receiving one first place vote with 73 points while Seattle U received the other first place vote and was picked to finish in fourth with 67 points. Utah Valley garnered 48 points and was picked to finish fifth.
The 2022 WAC Women’s Golf Championship gets underway on Monday, April 18, at Riverhill Country Club in Kerrville.
