The Women’s Council of Realtors McAllen Network held a back to school supply drive to enhance the experience of learning for young children in the Rio Grande Valley. As part of the community outreach and 2017 WCR program goals, the WCR Board Members agreed to partner with Teach the Children for the second year in a row.
The donation and collection efforts surpassed the 2016 Back to School Supply Drive thanks to the support and giving spirit of the WCR membership. All of the items donated go directly to first graders in the area as they enter the academic world. “The generosity of the Women’s Council of Realtors members and affiliated businesses is heartwarming,” said Grace Montalvo, WCR President. “WCR is committed to making a difference in the lives of children by supporting causes such as Vannie E. Cook Children’s Hematology & Cancer Center, the Rainbow Room, Mujeres Unidas and Teach the Children,” Montalvo added.
Oscar Adame, News Anchor and Reporter with KRGV Channel 5 News attended the Business Resource meeting held recently to personally thank the WCR board and membership. He shared the history of the program and the difference the organization is making in encouraging students to do their best as they start the school year.
The Women’s Council of Realtors is celebrating 40 years of serving brokers and real estate agents by scheduling informative programs, offering continuing education courses and hosting a variety of networking and business development events. Affiliate members are an important component of the WCR membership as these businesses provide services to real estate industry professionals.
