The RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce women’s committee is proud to announce this year’s Women of Distinction honorees to be celebrated on Wednesday, June 13th at the Memorial Event Center in Edinburg. The event will commence with a cocktail networking social, continue with a lovely dinner and close out with the recognition to the 2018 winners in the categories of Government, Education, Entrepreneur, Humanitarian, Professional, Health, Military, Arts & Entertainment and Rising Star.
Being honored this year for the Government category is Angela Burton, SBA District Director; Education is Dr. Blandina Cardenas Flores, former President of UT Pan American; Entrepreneur is Cynthia Ebrom of Cynthia’s Cakes; Professional is Dora Brown, Sr. V.P. of Marketing at IBC; Humanitarian is Sharon Almaguer, with the Almaguer Law Firm; Health is Jennifer Garza, CEO of the Edinburg Regional Medical Center; Military is Arlene Laboy, an Army Veteran and Founder of Veterans United; Arts & Entertainment is Armandina Sesin, San Juan Library Head Librarian and Rising Star is Judge Renee Betancourt, 449th District Court.
Each of these women have a special story of their own personal struggles, professional struggles, and professional successes. “Join us on June 13th and help us celebrate these awesome women from the Rio Grande Valley,” stated Marla Sandoval, vice chair of women’s issues. “Their stories are unbelievably inspiring and should be heard by all,” Sandoval added.
Tickets are $50 per person, Reserved table of 10 for $750 and several levels of sponsorships. Southwest Airlines has also donated 2 tickets to be auctioned off at the event.
