WESLACO – The Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce and J. Nava Studios are seeking contestants for the 2016 Miss Texas Onion Fest Pageant and the 2016 Miss Weslaco and Little Miss Weslaco Pageant. Young ladies interested in participating will compete for pageant titles that represent the community.
The Miss Texas Onion Fest pageant is held in conjunction with Weslaco’s annual Texas Onion Fest. Young ladies residing in the Mid-Valley area are eligible to compete for one of four titles which include Miss Onion Fest (ages 14-15), Miss Onion Blossom (ages 12-13), Miss Springsweet (ages 10-11), and the newly added division, Pearl Onion Princess for young girls ages 8-9.
Areas of competition will be on-stage introduction, evening wear, and an on-stage question. Contestants are encouraged to be sponsored and represent local businesses, groups, or family and friends. The 2016 Miss Texas Onion Fest Pageant will be held on Saturday, February 20 at 1 pm.
All the contestants competing In the Miss Weslaco Pageant must be sophomores or juniors in one of WISD high schools and/or residing in Weslaco. Contestants competing for Little Miss Weslaco must be in the first grade at a WISD school, and/or residing in Weslaco. Contestants will compete in a personal interview held prior to the event. Areas of competition that night will include on stage questions and evening gown attire. Contestants are encouraged to be sponsored by school clubs, sports, local groups and businesses, or family and friends. The 2016 Miss Weslaco and Little Miss Weslaco Pageant will be held on Saturday, February 20 at 6 pm.
The deadline to register is Friday, February 5 at 6pm. Both pageants will be held at the Weslaco ISD Performing Arts Center, located at 506 East Sixth Street.
