In addition, this building will also be able to be used for various community events like basketball tournaments and will feature plenty of restrooms and showers.

The estimated project cost is approximately $6.5 million, with an expected completion time of 12 months. Funding of this initiative is provided through the American Rescue Plan Act with the help of Congressman Vicente Gonzalez.

“I’m proud to have championed the American Rescue Plan Act, which helped struggling South Texans recover from the pandemic, lifted millions of children out of poverty, threw a lifeline to small businesses on the brink of closing, and provided funding for vital projects such as this Wellness & Activity Community Center,” said Congressman Gonzalez. “This center will promote exercise and improve the quality of life for all who use it. I can’t wait to see it finished!”
