Public health researchers, including those at the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), have evaluated watercress for its nutritional value. In a review of 47 fruits and vegetables, watercress received the highest possible score for nutrient density. A perfect score indicates that a food provides a large amount of key nutrients relative to the number of calories it contains.
