PHARR, Texas -As part of efforts to ensure students have the experiences and resources necessary to achieve the highest levels of success, the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD) School Board of Trustees approved more than $54,000 for the purchase of vouchers for exams and practice tests for students interested in pursuing industry certifications for the 2021-2022 school year.
The vouchers will allow students to learn, practice, and demonstrate mastery of content to provide them the opportunity to earn Business and Information Technology Industry Certifications during the 2021-2022 certifications.
The industry certifications covered through the vouchers are:
- Microsoft Office Specialist – Business Management Specialized Program
- Adobe Certified Associate – Audio/Video Specialized Program
- Autodesk Certified User – Engineering
“On behalf of our Board of Trustees, we are grateful to be able to support this investment to provide unique opportunities for our students,” said PSJA School Board President Jorge Zambrano. “We want them to not just have access to the courses, but to complete the necessary exams to earn the required state licenses.”
The Business and Information Technology Industry Certifications are just a few of the numerous career-advancing opportunities offered through the PSJA Career & Technical Education (CTE) Program in partnership with South Texas College and other higher education institutions.
Each semester, the PSJA CTE Program provides cutting-edge, rigorous, and relevant education to give high school students a jumpstart in a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, high demand careers after high school. PSJA ISD students can choose from 13 unique career pathways and 28 specialized programs.
“We are proud to provide these career advancement opportunities at an early age,” said PSJA Superintendent Dr. Jorge L. Arredondo. “We commend the work of our CTE Department for ensuring our students graduate with industry-level certifications and experiences that will put them ahead of their peers once they graduate from high school.”
