McALLEN, Texas (December 15, 2025) – The annual Salvation Army Angel Tree program provides Christmas gifts for children in need throughout the McAllen community each year. This year, more than 2,800 children were registered, and all have been adopted by generous individuals, families, and businesses. The gifts are ready for families to collect this week, and The Salvation Army is in desperate need of volunteers to help with distribution.
Registered families will collect Angel Tree gifts on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, December 16-18, 2025, from The Salvation Army. Volunteer opportunities are available from 8:30 AM-Noon, and 12:30-4 PM at The Salvation Army at 1600 N 23rd St. in McAllen.
“We desperately need volunteers to help us distribute Angel Tree gifts on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week, at The Salvation Army,” said Major Jan Zuniga of The Salvation Army in McAllen. “Our Angel Tree team has worked so hard to collect, sort, and prepare the gifts that have been donated. We’re going to make Christmas special for more than 2,800 children this year, which is wonderful. We’re seeking individuals, families, and groups to help hand out gifts to grateful parents and guardians. Angel Tree distribution is one of my favorite days of the year. We get to see the joy on a parents face when they receive beautiful gifts for their children. You can be part of that experience too.”
The Salvation Army of McAllen is calling on the community to Give with Joy by volunteering for its Red Kettle campaign and Angel Tree program – two beloved traditions that make a real difference for thousands of individuals and families.
“Volunteering makes such a big impact on so many lives during the holidays and as a volunteer, you get to give back to your community in a very real way and receive the blessing of making a difference,” said Zuniga. “We need help throughout the day on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week and have volunteer shifts available from 8:30 AM-Noon and 12:30-4 PM. Even if you can only help for an hour or two, we’d love you to get involved. Call The Salvation Army at (956) 682-1468 today, go to and register as a volunteer for the Angel Tree distribution days.”
