This year Bike McAllen will be partnering up with McAllen Crime Stoppers for the Viva Streets McAllen Event to be held on Saturday, August 3rd, 2013 at the old Sundance RV park just north of the Convention Center. The event will kick off with breakfast with the mayor, and include a 20-40-60 mile bike rides, a 10k fun run, a bike rodeo, a BBQ cook off, and plenty of things to do with the family. Bike McAllen will be hosting the bike rodeo and safety presentation, along with providing information about McAllen’s new safe passing ordinance. Booths will be available for those interested in providing information about cycling and bicycle safety or promoting cycling within our community as an alternative mode of transportation. For those interested in sponsoring the event, a sponsorship package has been included, and opportunities are open for those wanting to provide donations of any kind including cycling safety equipment, refreshments, or apparel.
