Viva Aerobus, Mexico’s ultra-low-cost airline, is offering San Antonio International Airport (SAT) travelers a new option to a popular Mexican destination: Guadalajara.
This marks Viva Aerobus’ sixth nonstop destination served from SAT. The route will begin operating on December 2, 2024, four times a week.
“Viva Aerobus is doing so well expanding its nonstop service to Mexico,” said Jesus Saenz, Director of Airports, City of San Antonio Aviation Department. “Guadalajara is a popular destination for business travelers, tourists who want to check out the birthplace of mariachi music and for people in our community who want to visit their friends and relatives.”
Here’s Viva’s schedule for the new flights to Guadalajara International Airport (GDL).
- Departs SAT at 9:20 a.m. and arrives at GDL at 11:30 a.m.
- Departs GDL at 6:00 a.m. and arrives at SAT at 8:10 a.m.
SAT is one of eight new routes being launched from GDL. Half of those will fly to U.S. destinations. Viva’s CEO Juan Carlos Zuazua said the routes will solidify the airline’s presence in the Mexican and U.S. markets – offering passengers more options for vacation, business, visiting family and much more.
“Guadalajara is another key Viva base. The four new routes to the USA will strengthen the region’s international connectivity. We see great potential in the Guadalajara market. In fact, we have a large list of domestic and international routes we could launch from Guadalajara and other large airports in the western part of Mexico,” Zuazua said.
Viva also serves Leon/Guanajuato, Mexico City, Monterrey, Queretaro and Torreon (seasonally). Currently, Volaris operates nonstop service to GDL up to two times daily.
Additionally, Viva will increase service to Monterrey starting on November 1, 2024. That service is currently offered twice daily, but the carrier will add a third daily frequency on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
“Our team continues to work to expand nonstop destinations from SAT both domestically and internationally,” Saenz said. “2024 has been another record-breaking year for us. The more you choose to fly from SAT and support our airport, the more that airlines notice and expand service. We’re still growing and look forward to more exciting news to come.”
