Two business consultants have opened VIREO Consulting Group, LLC in Weslaco to serve the Rio Grande Valley business community. This is a unique opportunity for local businesspeople to know and to approach them for a face-to-face session.
Ted P. Sunderland and Juan Carlos Peña are the two principals in this company with ample experience in business and banking to will help anyone who needs their assistance.
Ted, a graduate from Pan American University with a BBA in Economics, also earned an MBA in 1993. He started to work in local banks as of 1985 while he was attending the university. He told Texas Border Business, “Over the years I’ve been a branch manager, commercial lender, Senior Lending Officer, and Special Assets & Litigation Manager.”
Ted was born in San Juan, Texas to Harry and Viola Sunderland; his parents owned a cactus nursery in Alamo, Texas. He said that his parents instilled in him the values of honesty, a belief in God, and a strong work ethic.”
His partner, Juan Carlos, is a 2005 graduate of the University of San Antonio where he obtained his BA in Finance. He said, “I started my career in banking in the fall of 2005 until June of 2014.” During the time he worked in banking he was a Credit Analyst, Special Assets Analyst, and Commercial Lender.
He was born in Brownsville, Texas to Jose Luis and Socorro Peña, both educators originally from Pharr, Texas. Juan Carlos pointed out that his father was a Football Coach for over 35 years and a Math Teacher. “My mother was a History Teacher for over 35 years and taught me to always work hard, be honest, take care of family, and follow my faith.”
There is no doubt that Ted and Juan Carlos are professionally equipped to provide business advice and to assist in all manners of business issues but especially with issues either in loan restructures, business turnaround, bankruptcy plans, and restructures.
Even though this is a new company that began in July 2014, they have already counseled businesses that have come across issues with their bank and needed immediate assistance either with restructuring their loan or their bankruptcy plan. Juan Carlos said, “We have also assisted in locating SBA loan funding for business purchases.”
Ted pointed out that although there seems to be a great need for these services in the Rio Grande Valley, the concept is new to this area. “We believe that as we continue to work with clients, word will spread and the need for our services will be recognized and utilized.”
It is indeed refreshing to find a company that is complete in every aspect of business.
