EDINBURG, Texas – In celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, in conjunction with the Jr. NBA will be hosting a Basketball and Mental Health Wellness camp on Thursday, January 16 from 4-6 p.m. CT.
The camp will take place at the Edinburg Wellness Center/Vipers Practice Facility located at 315 E. Palm Drive and will host 50 boys selected by the Edinburg School District between the ages of 10-13.
The “I AM” camp is designed to offer campers a personalized basketball clinic, but the primary aim is to bring awareness and aid to children who are facing difficult situations in their everyday lives. On the day of the camp, social workers will be on-site to speak to the campers about how to deal with bullying, anxiety, overcoming adversity and other issues. Members of the Vipers team, including coaching staff, will join in on the conversation by sharing their personal experiences and offering advice.
