Violent Criminal Aliens Arrested by RGV Border Patrol Agents

EDINBURG, Texas â€“ Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents arrested four illegal aliens with violent criminal history to include homicide, aggravated rape, sexual assault, and gang affiliation.

On Wednesday, McAllen Border Patrol Station (MCS) agents apprehended a group of six illegal aliens near Havana, Texas. During processing, agents discovered that a Salvadoran national, had a prior arrest by the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) in Louisiana in 2009.  BRPD charged the subject with aggravated rape, aggravated incest, and sexual battery of a victim under 15 years old.  The subject was convicted in 2012 and sentenced to seven years hard labor.  

Thursday morning, Corpus Christi Border Patrol Station (CCT) agents assisted the Padre Island National Seashore Rangers on a traffic stop in Corpus Chrisit, Texas.  CCT agents determined that one of the passengers was a citizen of El Salvador who was illegally present in the United States.  The individual was taken into custody and transported to the Border Patrol station for processing.  During processing, record checks identified the subject as a Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member.  In addition to being a gang member, the subject has extensive criminal convictions to include assault with a deadly weapon.

Early this morning, MCS agents working near Granjeno, Texas, apprehended a Honduran national after he illegally entered the country.  During processing, record checks revealed the subject, later identified as PEREZ-Tejeda, Juan was arrested in 2011 for sexual assault by the Houston Police Department (HPD) in Houston, Texas. Perez-Tejeda was subsequently found guilty and sentenced to 4 years probation. 

Hours later, Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station agents apprehended two illegal aliens near Fronton, Texas.  During processing, agents discovered that a Mexican national, had a prior arrest in 1989 for homicide by HPD in Houston, Texas.  The subject was convicted in 1989 and sentenced to 20 years. The subject was order removed from the United States in 2007, after serving his sentence.

All subjects were be processed accordingly. 

Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation.  The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
