EDINBURG, Texas –Border Patrol agents interdict three-drug smuggling attempts, seizing nearly 600 pounds of Marijuana, within a 10-hour span.
Yesterday afternoon, Harlingen agents working near San Pedro, Texas, located an abandoned bundle of marijuana weighing more than 50 pounds and valued at over $40K. A search of the area for subjects or additional bundles yielded negative results.
Last night, National Guard personnel assisting the United States Border Patrol in the Fort Brown Station area of responsibility in Brownsville, Texas, observed and reported multiple drug smugglers approaching the nearby border infrastructure. Moments later, agents, along with a Border Patrol K-9, responded to the area and located three smugglers and 72 pounds of marijuana. The drugs are valued at over $57K.
Early this morning, Rio Grande Valley Sector agents responded to a report of a narcotic smuggling attempt in Garciasville, Texas. Agents searched the dense brush with the assistance of a Border Patrol K-9 team and a U.S. Customs and Border Protection air asset. The search led to the apprehension of four drug smugglers and the seizure of more than 450 pounds of marijuana valued at over $365K.
