WASHINGTON, D.C. – After former Vice President Joe Biden last week failed to answer whether he would support Democrats’ calls to pack the court with liberal activists, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Constitution, today released a new video reminding voters of the need to quickly confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, despite shameless tactics from Democrats to destroy her reputation, and underscores just how high the stakes of this year’s election are.

Leading Democrats have made it clear that “nothing is off the table” in their desperate attempt to a prevent the confirmation of a working mother with impeccable credentials to the Supreme Court. If history is any indication, we can expect Democrats to again instigate smear after smear in an effort to turn these confirmation hearings into the circuses we’ve seen recent confirmation hearings become.

Even the Senate Minority leader has refused to meet with Judge Barrett, resorting to outrageous attacks in an attempt to discredit her record.

But Democrats’ efforts to politicize the Court don’t simply end at their attempts to prevent the confirmation of highly qualified constitutionalist judges. Going back years, Democrats have called to pack the court with liberal activists. Now with another Supreme Court vacancy, Joe Biden has faced growing calls to pack the Court from the media and prominent Democratic politicians alike.

Sen. Ed Markey tweeted just hours after Ginsburg’s passing, “Mitch McConnell set the precedent. No Supreme Court vacancies filled in an election year. If he violates it, when Democrats control the Senate in the next Congress, we must abolish the filibuster and expand the Supreme Court.

When asked about packing the Court, Sen. Mazie Hirono, Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on the Constitution, responded, “This is long-overdue court reform, as far as I’m concerned.

And most notably, in last week’s presidential debate, after being pressed on Court-packing, Joe Biden responded, “I’m not going to answer the question.”

As Sen. Cruz has repeatedly said:

“I fully believe that they will move to pack the Court, and I think they will likely have the votes to do it. That politicizes the Court. It destroys the independence. We’ve seen a Democratic president try to pack the Court previously. FDR did and his own party resisted him. His own party said no, we don’t want the Court to be a political body. Today’s Democrats, I don’t believe, would resist one iota. And I think it’s where they’re headed if they get power.”
