WASHINGTON – Today U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) released a new video urging his fellow Texans to volunteer with their local food banks if they are able, noting that many Texas food banks have taken precautionary measures to accommodate social distancing and other safety guidelines from the CDC. This video comes after Sen. Cornyn joined members of Feeding Texas, the statewide network of the 21 major regional food banks, on a conference call to share information about federal resources available through the recently-passed CARES Act and to hear their current challenges and concerns during the coronavirus outbreak. More information on how the CARES Act helps nonprofits and keep their employees on the payroll is available here.
Sen. Cornyn launched a series of statewide outreach calls with chambers of commerce, hospitals, healthcare workers, and other Texans on March 6.
