If you want to Make It Big, you have to Think Big!
Texas Border Business –
It’s no secret that Texas Border Business loves parades, and last December 6, 2014, McAllen created probably one of the largest and most entertaining parades in South Texas. The City issued a statement that according to the review from two different experts from New York and New Orleans, McAllen city officials believe the number of people that attended the McAllen Holiday Parade was more than 200 thousand. The parade experts were on site to provide the city feedback for next year.
Since the planning of this parade, McAllen City officials were hoping for a large crowd but the enthusiasm and support from the entire region surpassed their goal. The statement added, “We are happy to report all the planning for the parade, security, and traffic control worked as planned. There is always room for improvement and city officials are meeting to discuss ways to improve the McAllen Holiday Parade next year.”

The parade started building momentum as soon as city officials released some of the stars joining the parade like Television host and actor Mario Lopez.
Also the Grand Marshal was Television ABC Star Cristela Alonzo, a San Juan native who has her own television comedy sitcom on ABC, and many more.
The other great surprise was the full participation of La Plaza Mall among the event sponsors.
But how can it be a great event if you do not invest. There were lots of changes and improvements to the infrastructure of Bicentennial Blvd. The boulevard is the main thoroughfare that leads to our main airport, McAllen Miller International. Those improvements are there to stay and be used by the public and for future parades.
And to make it even bigger and more spectacular, the City partnered with major event and parade production companies to produce the largest illuminated holiday parade in Texas. It featured a large array of giant helium-filled balloons similar to those seen in the famous and popular Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with 3.5 million attendees!
Spectators enjoyed different decorated, colorful, and illuminated parade floats, including some from Blaine Kern Studios in New Orleans, the company that creates the magic of Mardi Gras.
Mayor Pro Tem and Commissioner Hilda Salinas said. “Our crews worked at a remarkably intense pace to make this one of the most inspiring holiday parades in the country and, potentially, the largest illuminated parade in Texas. Everything will be on a different scale.”
So the story to tell is that if you want to Make It Big, you first have to Think Big!
