MERCEDES, Texas – Valley Initiative for Development and Advancement (VIDA) has been awarded a $100,000 grant from Texas Mutual Insurance Company to support its Empowering RGV Families Through Education and Workforce Pathways program. This effort helps working families in the Rio Grande Valley build stability, achieve economic mobility, and secure high-demand, high-wage careers through education, workforce training, and comprehensive wraparound support services.
This year, Texas Mutual awarded over $4.5 million to 66 Texas nonprofits through its generational learning grant cycle. The grants focus on improving health and wellness for Texas employees and their families, strengthening early childhood education by equipping childcare providers with resources for affordable, quality learning, and offering holistic wraparound support alongside case management so families have the tools to seize opportunities.
“We are deeply grateful to Texas Mutual for this $100,000 grant, which will enable VIDA to continue delivering the intensive wraparound services that set our participants up for success,” said Felida Villarreal, VIDA’s President & CEO. “Through this effort we will help more residents achieve self-sufficiency while strengthening the economic future of the Rio Grande Valley.”
“Investing in the well-being of working families is an essential steppingstone to investing in the future of Texas,” said Jeremiah Bentley, Texas Mutual VP of Marketing & Community Affairs. “At Texas Mutual, we’re committed to supporting organizations that help Texas families build stability and success. Together, we can ensure our communities and workforce continue to thrive for years to come.”
This effort advances VIDA’s mission to connect low-income, unemployed, and underemployed residents with in-demand career pathways. By providing both economic and social support, VIDA removes barriers to education and empowers participants to successfully pursue their training goals.
