McAllen, Texas – McAllen banker and businessman, Victor “SEBY” Haddad, today filed for McAllen City Commissioner District 5. Seby was raised in McAllen and attended St. John’s Elementary School, Our Lady of Sorrows (OLS), followed by Memorial High School. Seby went on to complete his bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems from St. Edwards University in Austin, TX, graduating in 2003. Upon filing his candidacy paperwork, “Seby” Haddad issued the following statement:

“I have a strong desire to serve and I want to give back to this great City and community that has been so good to my family and me. Representing the people and families of District 5 would be an honor as I have lived and worked in McAllen almost my entire life.

My service as Chair of the McAllen Convention Center Advisory Board as well as being on the McAllen Housing Finance Corp, the time spent with various civic organizations, and my widespread business experience, has prepared me for this important step in my life. I know how to create and work from a budget, how to find solutions when confronted with financial and management challenges, and when to tighten up or make wise investments.

As a community banker, I have always striven to take care of my customers and the business community with honesty, integrity and expediency — community before the politics of business. I believe that McAllen should operate like a business – providing the best service possible to its customers – the people, families, business owners and neighbors that are part of this great community. I believe that I encompass sound business practices and ideas for making McAllen even greater; and with my time, energy and passion, I am ready and qualified to serve McAllen.”

Over the next 3 months, Seby looks forward to engaging with voters across McAllen and District 5; to have conversations about how to work together and what’s needed to build a prosperous and better future for the families of McAllen.
