March 2014—HARLINGEN, Texas – For the third consecutive year, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a perfect safety score to Valley International Airport (VIA) for its latest Part 139 annual FAA inspection. During the annual inspection various aspects of VIA’s operations were meticulously assessed to ensure overall safety, including the Airport Certification Manual, inspection records, training records, maintenance records, aircraft rescue and fire fighting facilities, equipment, lighting, signage, markings, pavements, and more. The rigorous inspection was accomplished over the course of three days. It also required meetings between FAA inspectors and airport staff from several departments.
“It is not very common for an airport to obtain a perfect score due to the meticulous nature of these inspections covering so many different departments, equipment, procedures and documents,” VIA Aviation Director Michael Browning said. “I credit this accomplishment to the dedication, professionalism and exemplary team spirit at Valley International Airport.”
“Acing the annual inspection three consecutive years instills confidence among pilots, controllers, employees, and passengers that Valley International Airport is firmly committed to safety and continuous improvement,” Browning added.
